Both steady state and dynamic load flow studies can be conducted to typically evaluate:

1.       New equipment ratings (e.g. transformers, cables, switchgear, etc) and suitability of existing equipment ratings for all possible load and network configurations.

2.       Steady state power flows and voltage regulation to determine system load demands, generators with voltage control steady state characteristics, transformer tap settings, etc.

3.       Dynamic power flows and volt drops associated with large fluctuating loads, such as mine winders and electric arc furnaces.

4.       Detailed motor starting studies to determine system profiles such as voltage, current, speed, torque (load and motor), slip, etc.
